The new collection by the COAT by Katya Silchenko is a voyage through time—into a future where everything that was meant to happen has already unfolded. The campaign envisions a post-apocalyptic reality where a woman is not a victim of circumstance but a heroine—adapting, surviving, and doing so with dignity, grace, and an undeniable sense of style. These looks are both armor and art.
“For me, it’s something between Dune and Urivskyi’s Mermaid heading to Burning Man,” says creative director Katya Silchenko with a smile.
Every journey a designer takes is an expedition that gathers cultural codes from around the world. The festivals of Tulum are reflected in sheer dresses, voluminous shapes, and minimalist yet bold tops. A trip to Japan inspired a pleated leather kaftan with a sculptural back detail reminiscent of a traditional obi belt—an element that also echoes in the collection’s signature bag.
But the true leitmotif of the collection is the aesthetic of mermaids from Ukrainian mythology. Prints mimic nature’s raw imprints, while net-like bags resemble fishermen’s nets. Dresses made of printed mesh seamlessly transform into matching footwear, creating the illusion of mythical tails.
For Katya Silchenko, footwear is both a personal passion and the foundation of any outfit. It’s no coincidence that shoes became a defining element of this collection, uniting its eclectic aesthetic and completing each ensemble with precision.
The color palette and prints echo the wild beauty of nature—the scorched sands of the dunes, the pink salt lakes of Kherson, ancient stone textures shaped by time, marine patterns, dried flowers, and budding blossoms. The intensity of the hues shifts in harmony, either amplifying contrast or softening into ethereal fluidity.
Feminine silhouettes, soft leather, and translucent layers of Japanese matte mesh, combined with hip-accented details, meet architectural cargo pants, cocoon-like trench coats, and structured cotton jackets.
Cultures intertwine, where futurism meets nature, and the signature DNA of the COAT is revealed in a new light. Yet despite its conceptual depth, each piece remains wearable, versatile, and timeless—made for the present, designed to transcend it.
