Photographer Tumi Adeleye delves into the intricacies of love and relationships in her latest photo series, *This Shit For Da Birds*. Based in Los Angeles, a city known for its complicated dating scene, Adeleye uses her personal experiences to craft a narrative centered on Koko, a woman unimpressed by romance, and a man with a few tricks up his sleeve.
Adeleye, a Nike-approved artist, blends her expertise in portrait photography and fashion styling with subtle symbolism to capture the multifaceted journey of Black love. Her work reflects her own evolution, from navigating situationships to vowing never to repeat the same mistakes. “Each connection is a new way to learn about myself,” she shared.
“My dating life is like a novel,” Adeleye told Hypebae. “From the odd, sexy, and charming characters who come and go like chapters, to my growth as a queer Black woman, the story writes itself.” She added, “It keeps me busy and inspires how I share my experiences with the world as a visual storyteller.”
*This Shit For Da Birds* is a raw and creative exploration of love’s many layers, offering a vulnerable yet empowering perspective on modern relationships.
