Ukrainian singer Dasha Suvorova from Bakhmut has presented her work «Friendship» The song waited six years for its moment. It was written before the full-scale invasion and has now become part of a new mini-album, where each track is a sincere, personal story.
In the music video, the main character embarks on a symbolic journey—to the funeral of her relationship. She sits in a car speeding down a road that unfolds before her like a life lived. The road here is not just a backdrop but a metaphor for choice, moving forward, and the process of reflecting on the path taken.
At one point, she stops, steps out of the car, and stands in the middle of the road, as if balancing between the past and the future. Red flashes of light, reminiscent of David Lynch’s signature style, emphasize the atmosphere of a borderline state between calm and a storm of emotions. The flowers in her hands are a sign of farewell and gratitude for all that has been.
«I really love Lynch… Such geniuses are rare. The phrase ‘How David Lynch would have filmed it’ was written long before his death,» shares Dasha.
«Friendship» is a story about a connection that defies clear definitions. It’s not just a friendship that became bigger than itself, nor is it just a love that transcends conventional boundaries. It’s a metaphysical love about “D”—without names, without labels, only feelings. It lived in Kyiv—among the narrow streets of Podil, night conversations in secret bars, and the carefree underground.»
The video features no gloss or designer clothes, only vintage items from a flea market. This reflects emotions that can’t be bought and memories that can’t be reclaimed. «Friendship» is more than a song. It’s a story in which everyone will recognize themselves if they’ve ever said goodbye to something that was once important.
